Making Progress Toward Corporate Responsibility Goals

Target is making progress on its corporate responsibility journey and recently published its annual corporate responsibility report highlighting its accomplishments and challenges. You can download the full report and see all the updates on the Goals & Reporting page of Target.com/corporateresponsibility.

We made significant strides last year, and remain on track to achieve these goals by fiscal year-end 2015:

  • Donating $1 billion for education;
  • Reducing our operating waste to landfill and greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Cutting excess miles from our U.S. supply chain (a goal we’ve already exceeded but will continue to measure progress on through 2015);
  • Increasing our sustainable seafood selection; and
  • Increasing our team member volunteer hours.

In addition, we’re on track to achieve our goal of improving packaging sustainability by fiscal year-end 2016. However, we face challenges on four of our goals, and we are again openly sharing our plans for improvement in this year’s report.

We are also excited to announce a new goal to increase our organic food offerings by 25 percent by fiscal year-end 2017.

“Organic products are important to our guests,” said Annette Miller, senior vice president of merchandising for Target’s grocery business.

“By increasing these offerings, we help meet our guests’ growing interest in organic options and support agricultural practices that enhance conservation of soils and biodiversity.”
