Chavel to Retire as Sodexo’s CEO

George Chavel, Sodexo North America President and CEO, has announced that he will retire at the end of 2015. Sodexo currently ranks at No. 5 on DiversityInc’s Top 50 Companies for Diversity list.

Chavel began his career at Sodexo in 1991. During his time there, he held the position of President and COO, Healthcare before taking on the role of CEO in 2007. During his tenure, Chavel advocated for diversity and inclusion at Sodexo and played a key role in the initiative.

Chavel’s successor will be Lorna Donatone, CEO Schools Worldwide. Donatone joined Sodexo in 1999. Prior to being appointed as Chavel’s successor, Donatone held a number of leadership roles, including President of Spirit Cruises, President of Schools Division and President and COO of Sodexo Education for North America.

Like Chavel, Donatone also strives for diversity and inclusion. She has served as chair of the Women’s Foodservice Forum and she is also the founding member of Sodexo Women’s International Forum for Talent.
